Resting and Testing

A little update to keep you all up to speed on Baby Peace and I. I have been adhering to a regiment of testing and resting. Resting in a semi bed rest fashion, I am getting a few quiet days in Denver to catch up on much needed rest, relaxation and reflection. Testing is taking place every Monday and Thursday. Every time we go for testing they do a bio physical profile on the baby looking closely at the dopplers or heart tones in very specific areas on the body and in the umbilical cord. As you know from past updates this has been in flux. Our little Baby Peace was in the middle of a circus act today, which is great to see except when you need them to hold still. We got the necessary readings of flow despite baby's many movements. Nothing has really changed for better or for worse. While the other recent tests strongly indicated "absent" or "reverse" flow, today's test had the dopplers all over the board. They were strongest where the cord exits the placenta and seemed to weaken en route to baby's belly. My high-risk maternal fetal medicine doctor said he "really didn't know what to make of it..."

For now we are in "stable" mode and will await anxiously the tests on Monday and Thursday of next week. Thursday will be when we next calculate fetal weight. We'll see if we've inched anywhere nearer that magical 1500 grams that we need to hit at a minimum. It's going to be a long week, not only for myself and baby, but Papa at home with our other precious kids.
